The Effects of Cancer in The Female Population

The leading sites of cancer in females are found in the breast, lung, colon and rectum, uterine corpus, and lymph nodes.

What is breast cancer’s effect on women? Women with breast cancer notice changes on their breasts or nipples: a lump or thickening inside or close to the breast or the underarm area, nipple tenderness, change in size of the breast, nipple is turned inward. The skin of the breast, areaola or nipple may appear scaly, reddish, and swollen. Some women experience nipple discharge.

What is lung cancer effect on women? Women are more vulnerable to the deadly side effects of lung cancer. However, cancer kills more men than women.

What is colon cancer  effect on women? Colon cancer affects men and women equally. Colon cancer’s lack of symptoms makes it dangerous. Women reaching the age of 50 are suggested to undergo colonoscopy. Colorectal cancer is the second most common cancer in women.

What is cervical cancer effect on women? Vaginal bleeding or spotting in postmenopausal women may indicate uterine cancer. Women experience abnormal uterine bleeding, abnormal menstrual periods, bleeding in between normal periods, and heavy episodes of bleeding for women over the age of 40. Anemia may be caused by uterine cancer due to loss of blood. Pelvic cramping may be experienced and a thin, white vaginal discharge may be seen.

What is lymphatic cancer’s effect on women? Hodgkin lymphoma is the most common lymphatic cancer in women. Signs and symptoms include night sweats, swollen lymph nodes, splenomegaly or enlargement of the spleen, hepatomegaly or enlargement of the liver, hepatosplenomegaly or enlargement of the liver and spleen, pain after alcohol consumption, back pain, red patches on the skin due to low platelet count, low grade fever, itchy skin due to increased levels of eosinophils, fatigue or lassitude, and unexplained weight loss and cyclical fever.
